Imposter Syndrome

Imposter Syndrome is a common condition which can be very distressing for the sufferer and limit their growth, both professionally and personally. There are various causes and types of imposter syndrome, as well as symptoms, emotional, and psychological, which can contribute to feelings of never being good enough.

It is the overwhelming feeling that you don't deserve your success. It is the psychological experience of feeling like a fake or a phoney despite any genuine success that you have achieved. It can relate to work, relationships, friendships, or all of these.

If you experience feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt, you may be surprised to learn that you are in great company. Impostor Syndrome is typically associated with high achievers. So, if you feel like a fraud, the chances are that you're more capable than you think. Real frauds don't worry about things like this.

It is both a very common and frustrating phenomenon because it holds us back from the self-confidence we've earned and deserve to feel. While it might be of some comfort that you’re not alone, it’s no less damaging to your confidence and your career. People with imposter syndrome are often highly accomplished, impressive individuals. On the outside, there is no apparent reason for them to feel like an imposter, and yet they still do. This is what makes it such a challenging psychological condition that needs to be addressed.
